Celebrating Diversity and Literacy

At the Temple Public Library, we believe in the transformative power of literacy and the importance of celebrating diversity. That is why we are proud to participate in Día, or Children's Day/Book Day, a nationally recognized initiative that emphasizes the joy of reading and the value of embracing diverse languages and cultures. Día is not just a one-day event; it is a daily commitment to nurturing cognitive and literacy development in children of all linguistic backgrounds.

Día is a celebration of children, families, and reading, and it is an opportunity for everyone in our community to come together and connect over the magic of storytelling. By attending our Día event on April 30 from 3 - 5 PM, you will have the chance to participate in a variety of activities that promote literacy and cultural appreciation. From sharing stories to making crafts and receiving free books (for children) to keep, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Our Día celebration at the Temple Public Library promises to be a fun-filled afternoon for all ages. Whether you are a parent looking to instill a love of reading in your child, a teacher seeking resources to support diverse learners, or simply a book lover eager to connect with others in the community, you will find plenty to enjoy at our event. Best of all, no registration is required—all are welcome to join in the festivities.

So, mark your calendars and join us on April 30 as we come together to celebrate the joy of reading and the rich tapestry of cultures that make our community so vibrant. By participating in Día, you will not only support literacy development in children but also contribute to the creation of a more inclusive and connected community. We look forward to seeing you there!

Check It OutIf you cannot make it to our Día celebration, you can still check out awesome books for children in English or Spanish year-round at your Temple Public Library. Here are just a few to get you started:
